A New Project : Write with Tarot...

Updated: Sep 3, 2022

Tarot is an ultimate tool that can be used for all sort of purposes. In most cases people underestimate it, by limiting Tarot reading by late Fortune telling. This post will be dedicated to a different project, I called it Writing with Tarot. The idea is to show another way of using Tarot cards and give some inspiration to those, who want to try, but not sure what to ask...

What will the process look like?

The Querent will be a real person, who writes short stories and in a process of writing a book. Together we have decided to run an experiment: writing a short story guided by Tarot. As writing a story involve so many steps and choices, we will be asking cards about most of the steps of the process and publishing the answers on our social platforms. Please follow not to miss out...

Where do we begin?

First of all we need to decide when is the best time to start writing, to get the most out of this project. So the question to Tarot was: What is the best time to begin writing? As the writer decided she would like her work to begin some time in March, we've done a reading asking about each week. Five card reading to represent weeks of the months.

  • 1st Week - Queen of Cups - will be very emotionally satisfying and creative process

  • 2nd Week - The Judgement - Will help to realise important values, and some sort of awakening cased by the story

  • 3rd Week - 5 of Pentacles - probably my least favourite cards in the deck. It brings nothing, but struggle and lack of inspiration, and in this case inspirational poverty.

  • 4th Week - 2 of Sword - at some point, the author will loose interest and won't want to carry on with the project, thinking it won't bring the results

  • 5th Week - 6 of Wands - if that was me, the end of the month would have been my choice. Victory and public recognition

Now we know when it is the best time to start writing. Next thing is to decide what genre to choose...

Choosing the Genre

Now to the interesting part. Choosing the genre for the story. So the question was: What genre to choose for story to become popular?

I have pulled 2 cards Lust (Strength) and 5 of Cups, based on these 2 cards the story should be written as psychological drama, including elements of domination, control and sadness, and disappointment.

How the story will be told from the 1st person or from the 3rd...

Three cards to signify the general energy, 1st person option, and the 3rd person option. In general, the situation is looking positive, which ever way it will be written. However, it looks like writing it from the 1st person will be easier and quicker and will get a better response. But if the author makes a choice to write her story from the 3rd person in that case at some point, she will struggle to find an inspiration for it...

Where should action take place?

Now off to decide where would action take place? By the looks of it, it is a secluded place likely an old house somewhere in the countryside. Place where it is so quiet that can make you feel boring at times. The main character has something to sort out ... Nothing major, but enough to keep him/her busy. Something has fallen apart - finished, that made him/her come here. The connection goes to an older man or an authority person...

Choosing the plot...

Every story to make it interesting needs a plot twist, so this one is not any different. The question was : What is the plot twist?...by the looks of it, the main character finds out about pregnancy, but there is some uncertainty around it...why?... That is to find out later...

How does the story end?

Next question to Tarot was: How should the story end?

Looking at this story will have kinda an open ending, there should be a space left for - what if? Or and?....

The main character will end up making a firm decision on what she/he wants to do and how to make it happen. However, looks like it will be a very brief decision without much consideration and something will make her to have send thoughts
